Lack of transparency dogging Gov’t

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Transparency and sustainability are mere buzzwords as far as the successive governments of Jamaica of administrations are concerned.

The cases of Port Royal and Cockpit Country display the same lack of transparency and concern for the needs and sustainable development of our people and their communities.

In both cases, we are led to believe that jobs and foreign exchange earnings expected from the efforts of the Government will trickle down as benefits for the people. But, have the people truly been consulted and fully understand what is to be done? And, are they being prepared to benefit or lose significantly?

The sincerity of the prime minister, in particular, is in question with the declaration of the Cockpit Country as “protected from mining”, which seems to be another case of our people being given a “six for a nine”.

There are just too many cases of lack of transparency, corruption, cronyism and crime plaguing this administration.
