Condemn abuse of athletes
THE EDITOR, Sir:
Well said, Dr Orville Taylor! Your column (‘Lesson for waggonists’, Gleaner, October 5, 2019) was something that all the well-studied armchair lovers and keepers of results should read.
The abuse that is meted out to the athletes who do not perform to their God-given talent at times is hateful. The athletes mustn’t ‘pop down’, feel pain or have a bad day when I, the expectant fan, is waiting for the medal.
Disappointment, yes. Abuse, no!
