The MVPs of Doha

The Maximising Velocity and Power ( MVP) Track and Field Club must be acknowledged for its outstanding contribution to Jamaica’s medal hall at the World Championships in Doha, Qatar.

Stephen Francis and his team should take a bow. I have always seen him as an enigma. He possesses the ability to identify natural talent, hone these and change life outcomes positively.

What a great Jamaican. He is indeed an institution.

All the athletes did themselves and us proud. However, the standouts, for me, were the emerging stars in the field events.

Tajay Gayle, and his gold-medal jump, was stellar. Our Shelly-Ann brought tears of joy in winning gold in the 100 metres. Then doing the victory lap with her son, Zyon, was ‘Pryceless’.

Thank you, MVP, and the other track clubs, for keeping the Jamaican flag flying high.
