Demand strict accountability, transparency
THE EDITOR, Madam:
Jamaicans, stop this diehard party politics nonsense. It’s not good. Have an open mind and take each issue as it comes. This diehard stuff has not served us well.
If a politician is suspected of doing wrong in government, don’t hesitate to remove him/her, whether a member of your party or not. Demand strict accountability and transparency from your officials.
Build an ethics clause into your constitution and fire a person at the very appearance of malfeasance.
Use legal manoeuvres like impeachment to remove them and if that doesn’t work, educate and inform the public enough so that they can do the firing at the ballot box – just like in America.
By the time you wait to prove guilt in court, these people have stolen the whole store. Fire them in one way or another.
If people don’t like that approach, they don’t have to get into politics. These should be the ground rules in politics and they should be enshrined in the law of the land.
