Commission on education is welcome

I wish to commend Prime Minister (PM) Andrew Holness for launching the high level commission on education. He has a track record of initiating and developing several institutions in his career.

While inheriting the 2004 Task Force Report on Education, Holness implemented the recommendations that have resulted in many advances in the education system. It is therefore timely as PM, that as part of the adaptation to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, we must realign our education system from the early-childhood to the tertiary level.

I believe the chosen commissioners are excellent choices and will go about their work effectively. I would, however, love to see a student representation in the commission so that their perspective is also taken into consideration.

So, it is time for less talk and more action – or as a former leader said, “This matter is impatient of debate.”
