Toots deserves better farewell
THE EDITOR, Madam:
As a Jamaican who loves reggae music and listened to Toots all my life, I am appalled at what transpired at his proposed burial last Thursday. This not only goes to show the chaos we are living in, but has highlighted the lack of proper planning for the farewell of this Jamaican icon. This does not make the country look good. What would have happened if there were no space in that section of Heroes Park?
I do hope this will be a lesson for all Jamaicans, especially those who are in positions of power to ensure that whenever another cultural icon passes, they should be the first to contact the family and work with them from day one on the preparations for the final resting place for that icon.
We owe a lot to Toots and, as a country, we should have plans in place so that such things do not happen in the future. Toots deserves a better farewell.
