Trump needs to go
THE EDITOR, Madam:
At present, Donald Trump is the greatest national threat to America, to her democracy, to her rule of law, and to her greatly revered, globally respected and highly celebrated Constitution.
Any president or prime minister of a country and, moreover, one that is a democratic nation, who has a strong desire to and is willing to retain power – at any cost – even after losing a very fair, very transparent and very decisive election, automatically qualifies as the greatest threat to that nation.
President Donald Trump is that person.
The dangerous, disgraceful and disrespectful attack on, and invasion of, the US Capitol in Washington is the shameful result of Trump’s numerous and consistent utterances that Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election was fraudulently attained and that it is, actually, he (Trump) who won the election.
Though he has only two weeks remaining in office, the long-term damage to America that Trump can do in two minutes or two hours, let alone in two weeks – akin to the carnage that ensued on the US Capitol – is a real and present threat/danger. As such, Donald Trump should be forced to resign, by invoking the 25th Amendment.
