Butch Stewart truly gave all that was good
THE EDITOR, Madam:
I am deeply saddened by the passing of Butch Stewart. His warmth, sense of humour and his ability to make people feel at ease were unmatched. International leaders, friends and total strangers were all made to feel like family.
He was a cherished friend and my husband deeply valued his vision and creativity.
Butch displayed true Jamaican hospitality and his beloved Sandals became a cherished symbol, known worldwide. He was indeed a standard-bearer for the Caribbean.
In difficult times, when the country faced crisis, Butch took it easily in his stride because he had tremendous faith in positive outcomes and worked hard to see them realised.
He was a generous man who gave of himself without hesitation. Butch truly gave ‘all that was good’.
I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to his family. May they find comfort in the knowledge that his life was a true blessing for many.
