Fraser-Pryce announces pregnancy
Seven-time World Championships gold medal winner Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce took to social media this morning to announce that she was an expecting mother.
Fraser-Pryce, who won back-to-back gold medals in the 100m at the 2009, 2013 and 2015 World Championships, with a 200m podium topper also forming part of a tasty triple gold medal treat in 2013, is likely to miss the Summer's installment in London.
The 30-year-old posted a photo of herself on Instagram over the caption: "New chapter awaits, Hello Motherhood!!! See you soon ... #Motherhood2017 #HisWill #PrycelessJourney!!" complete with two baby emojis.
The superstar sprinter's post was followed by a number of congratulatory messages from fans and fellow athletes alike with Elaine Thompson, the current double Olympic sprint champion posting "I can't wait to hear aunty Elaine. Congratulations boo I'm excited."
Fraser-Pryce is Jamaica's leading female sprinter and is regarded as one of the greatest in the history of the sport.
The two-time Olympic gold medal winner has won 16 medals at the senior world level.
She is married to long-time boyfriend Jason Pryce.
