Shaw to address seminar in Suriname

OPPOSITION SPOKESMAN on Finance and Planning, and Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament (PAC) Audley Shaw is to be guest speaker at a seminar on Good Governance, to be held in Paramaribo, Suriname today.

The seminar is sponsored by the Inter-American Development Bank.

Shaw was invited by the president of the Supreme Audit Institution of Suriname, C. Felter, to address a group of ministers, parliamentarians and permanent secretaries from the government of Suriname.

The stated objectives of the seminar are to promote the importance of good governance in the public sector and to support the government in strengthening its external control function by reinforcing the important role of parliamentarians, ministers and permanent secretaries in working with the Supreme Audit Institution to improve control and oversight in Suriname.

Shaw will share his experience as both chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, as well as a former minister of finance and planning in Jamaica.
