Twenty-two students from a wide cross section of high schools recently participated in an internship at China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) Americas Division.

The schools represented included Wolmer's Boys and Girls, St Mary's College, Meadowbrook High, Campion College, Kingston College, Ardenne High, St Andrew High School for Girls, and Holy Childhood High School. This is the first year of the CHEC Americas Summer Internship Programme. Following the orientation session where participants were given an overview on the company and an opportunity to mingle with their peers, students were assigned to a number of departments, including human resources, business development, finance, communication, general affairs, and the major infrastructure development programme.

A few 'budding' engineers were strategically placed at CHEC's Treadways Site offices in Linstead, Caymanas, Wakefield, and Golden Grove.

Some of the students are now enrolled at the University of the West Indies, Mona, and the University of Technology, getting ready for their first year.
