The Jamaica Labour Party wants the government to reconsider the Negril Break Water Project.

According to Opposition Spokesman on Environment, Dr Andrew Wheatley, the proposed system will have serious effects on Negril’s environment and tourism product.

Wheatley has acknowledged that something has to be done to safeguard Negril’s coastline, but he maintains a break water system is not the way.

He says the government should consider the cheaper and more efficient beach nourishment system instead.
