Major cocaine bust at Kingston Wharves, 267 pounds seized

Members of the Transnational Crime and Narcotics Division and the Contraband Enforcement Team have reportedly seized 267 pounds of cocaine at Kingston Wharves.



The police say the bust was made yesterday.



It is reported that during a routine operation, the team carried out a search of a container which arrived from Suriname en route to China.



The container which was packed with lumber was opened and four black travelling bags wrapped in transparent plastic found with the cocaine.



The police estimate that the drug has a street value of $145 million.



No one was arrested in relation to the seizure, however, the police say anyone with information that can assist them should call 923-5729, police 119 emergency number or the nearest police station.
