The Gleaner Company has launched its first-ever 5K run.

The event, which was launched this morning at the Gleaner Company’s head office, is one of the company’s activities to celebrate its 180 anniversary.

The 5K run, dubbed ‘Fit for 180, Fit for Life’, will take place on Saturday, September 13 - the day the Gleaner Company turns 180.

The race begins at the Gleaner’s North Street offices at 6:30 in the morning, after a pre-race warm-up session in the parking lot.

Funds raised will go towards the Physiotherapy Department of the University Hospital of the West Indies and Peace and Love in Society, PALS.

Alfred Francis, managing director of Running Event Limited, said the Gleaner 5K run would benefit from the latest race technology.
