Wynter McIntosh is new Lucea mayor

WESTERN BUREAU:

Wynter McIntosh, the Councillor of the Chester Castle Division in Hanover has been appointed the new Mayor of Lucea and Chairman of the Hanover Parish Council.




He was elected by his colleague councillors at special sitting of the council at the Lucea Municipal Building this morning.



McIntosh was nominated by outgoing chairman Shernet Haughton, who is also Councillor of the Green Island Division.



Meanwhile, councillor for the Sandy Bay Division, Lloyd Hill, has tendered his resignation as deputy mayor and vice chairman of the council.



Hill who is recuperating from ill health says he wanted to give councillor the option to nominate a new person to the post.



He has been replaced by Neville Clare who received unanimous as deputy mayor and vice chairman of the council.



"I am young, gifted and black, and if anyone tries to destroy me, I will rise again," was among the statements the outgoing mayor made.
