KINGSTON, Jamaica:

Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller says she will not be adding any one to her cabinet to replace former Agriculture Minister Roger Clarke.

Clarke died yesterday in Florida while attempting to return to the island.

He had been in the United States since July receiving medical treatment for a back condition.

Last month, Labour and Social Se Derrick Kellier was assigned to act as Agriculture Minister until Clarke returned.

It’s unclear whether he’ll retain the post.

Prime Minister Simpson Miller says a decision will be made on who will take over the portfolio in the coming weeks.

However, she says given the tough times currently being faced, the ministry will be assigned to someone already in the cabinet.

Simpson Miller says it’s likely that a State Minister will also be assigned to assist with the agriculture portfolio.

The Prime Minister was speaking yesterday at Jamaica House following news of Clarke’s passing.
