Why labour in vain?

"Unless the Lord builds the house, they labour in vain who build it; unless the LORD guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain" (Psalm 127: 1).

THROUGHOUT THE global catastrophes and failures that have been occurring in this season economic decline, wars, diseases such as Ebola; injustice and human-rights issues and the crisis of ISIS - we see that many of the global leaders are clueless about how to deal with these issues. Some are silent concerning how to deal with ISIS.

All this is the result of leaders and nations building without God. Regardless of how brilliant the plans are, they will come to nought and failure because, in order to experience real success with any plans, visions and ideas, there has to be total reliance on God. In order to build our families well, build the economy, the justice system, have development, there must be a total reliance on God.

When we allow God to build the house, you will have true success. When we trust anything else, we labour in vain.

Thanks to Damion Crawford, the member of parliament who made his bold speech about God within the nation. Unsurprisingly, those who should be making those statements have sunken into silence; hence the state of our country and the moral decline; and many are pushing a secularist agenda! We are even seeing our nation voting against what they should be supporting!

Just a thought. An atheist does not believe in the existence of a supreme being or of supreme beings; thus their belief is there is no God. But if religion is a belief, and if their belief is in the non-existence of a God or any supreme beings, then atheism is a religion!

God is a God of order, and as we all know, there can be no building without order!

When we remove God from the media, politics and even Hollywood, when we develop the youth without prayer and Godly wisdom, then we are creating a global catastrophe, particularly among the youth. We are labouring in vain!

When we build without God, we are wasting time and resources, and duplicating. God gives treasures to those who love him, trust Him and obey Him while they are asleep. The men who toil from early in the morning till late in the evening without God, do so in vain.

A person who wants to reduce crime and violence with God's absence from the building process labours in vain.

A person who trusts electronic devices - surveillance tools and armed guards - without God in it, labours in vain and it will bring failure.

An economist who wants to manage an economy without God in the building process will fail. Remember, God created the economy, the earth, as well as times and seasons; and there are requirements. The earth cannot yield anything without His say-so! So we can't truly build without prayer, without the word of God or without seeking Him for direction and instructions.

When God builds the house, He will direct you concerning trade partners and partnerships. Look at companies such as Forever 21 - Don and Jing Chang, and Jamaica Broilers - Robert Levy.

Both macro and micro-economic factors without God will bring great pain and hardship. Look at the state of the dollar! At this rate, it would be better for the nation to abandon the local dollar, work with CARICOM and let the EC (Eastern Caribbean) dollar become the new currency for the region.

Many politicians are depending on their political connections in other countries or the agenda of other nations to help them to be successful. This is a deception! What if they fail? What will happen?

Regardless of whatever leadership styles a nation adopts - communism, democracy and so on - if God is not the one who builds the house, then all the manifestos and plans will fail. For us to be successful - individually or collectively - we have to allow God to build our house, to work in us, and bring out His purpose within us!

Each individual needs to ask the question, are we labouring in vain? Is God in charge of our workforce? Is God the centre of my family? Once we can honestly answer these questions, it will allow us to make better choices. It will allow our eyes to open, and we will be able to discern good from evil.

God is looking for leaders in business places who are willing to get into the political, legal and financial sectors - who are not afraid to allow God to build their houses; and when they come forward, we will see global change.
