Hundreds of passengers trying to leave Jamaica though Montego Bay’s Sangster International Airport have been impacted following a fire at the airport.

It is reported that the fire began in the electrical room behind the check-in counters and might have been caused by electrical faults.

The fire began around 1 o’clock but was quickly contained.

Passengers trying to board West Jet, American Airlines South West, and Thomson Airways, are among those who have been affected.

Four fire trucks are on location at this hour.

Airport officials have announced that that blaze was not major.

In the meantime, the airport remains open and incoming flights have not been affected.

In May, there was a major fire at Ajas Limited in the domestic terminal on the compound of the Sangster airport.
