WESTERN BUREAU:

Councillor of the Riverside Division and former Mayor of Lucea Lester Crooks, shed tears of frustration and sorrow this morning, during the regular monthly meeting of the Hanover Parish Council.

Tears rolled down his cheeks as he spoke about the state of his division which he said was neglected by the council for the entire three months that he was at home on sick leave.

Crooks was returning to the council today for the first time in three months.

In a plea to current Mayor of Lucea and Chairman of the Hanover Parish Council, Wynter McIntosh, Crooks said his division had not benefited from any programmatic activities of the council, and that his constituents had suffered as a result.

Councillor of the Cauldwell Division, Anthony Walker, said former Mayor Shernet Haughton should apologize to Crooks, as she was serving as chairman of the council during that period and so should have assumed responsibility for Crooks' division.

However, in defence of Haughton, Secretary Manager Judy McKenzie-Lawrence, said she personally tried multiple times to contact Crooks by phone while he was ill, to find out what programmes he would have liked to be implemented, but all attempts were unsuccessful.

Mayor McIntosh assured Crooks that he would ensure that the Riverside division be given priority attention.
