Jamaica's Best honoured at Hospitality Jamaica Awards

MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica:
In a glitzy function highlighted by top-class entertainment, the country’s sole tourism trade publication, The Gleaner’s Hospitality Jamaica celebrated 10 years Saturday evening with an awards function at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in St James.
It was a function that featured the nation’s significant contributors to the tourist industry and to culminate the celebration, ‘Jamaica’s Best 10’ were awarded in their respective categories.
The event was held in collaboration with the Jamaica Tourist Board.
"This is a good year for The Gleaner," said Managing Director Christopher Barnes.
"All of you who support the publication are contributing to an important element for sustainability of the industry."
Barnes also hailed the 30 nominees in the various categories.
"All the nominees tonight - whether you emerge winners or not - are among the best of Jamaica," he told them.
Tourism Director, Paul Pennicook sang high praises for the 10-year-old product.
"This publication has kept the industry players and practitioners on their toes,” he said adding that the Hospitality Jamaica Awards contribute to the ideals of the sector.
During the function, Dr Cecil Cornwall, the founder of the Western Hospitality Institute was named the inaugural ‘Hospitality Personality of the Year’
"This means the world to me," he said.
"It’s the icing on the cake."
