West Indies Home Contractors Limited (WIHCON), one of Jamaica's leading contractors and developers, recently hosted an open house at Innswood, St Catherine, for persons interested in purchasing homes in one of their latest projects, Jacaranda, Phase 3.

The development is conveniently located along the Old Harbour road adjacent to Whitewater Meadows and is approximately 10 minutes from the Old Harbour, Ocho Rios and Spanish Town roundabout.

Jacaranda Homes is designed to focus on the discerning buyer looking for sophisticated and stylish homes. This community will boast four multipurpose courts, a children's playground and a multipurpose community building along with aesthetically pleasing homes inside a walled community with a secure and attractive entrance.

There are 540 semi-detached houses of 547 square feet each with two bedrooms and one bathroom. The internal design features an open-plan living, dining and kitchen area that allows for ample cross ventilation and the windows are strategically placed to give a light and airy feeling.

The two bedrooms are each 3.05m x 3.05m or 10 by x 10 feet with additional closet space. The entire house will have large high quality ceramic tiles and will be outfitted with UPVC windows. The kitchen will include both lower and upper level cabinet space for ample storage. The kitchen will also be outfitted with a single bowl stainless steel sink and fittings and solid surface counter tops.

The bathroom, which is located adjacent to the two bedrooms, will include a full-sized shower stall with ceramic wall tiles. The face basin will be fitted into a cupboard with solid surface counter top and backsplash. Each house will be provided with hot and cold water piping and a UPVC external laundry tub.

Some already sold out

The two-bedroom houses cost $6.95 million with a deposit of $347,500 and closing cost of $234,514. But these are going fast. The 46 two-bedroom, two-bathroom townhouses have already sold out.

According to Olive McNaughton, marketing and sales manager at WIHCON, the company is just not offering a house, but a whole living experience. "We are providing persons with the legacy of affording their own homes. Persons can start investing in their own homes giving them a chance to stop paying rent," she said.

"We had partners on board from the different institutions to assist in the process of investing in a new house. We wanted to inform and advise the public that these units are now selling for them to make an investment in Jacaranda homes," McNaughton added.

Partners at the open house bonanza included Hawkeye Electronic Security Limited, Singer, Appliance Traders Limited, British Caribbean Insurance, Victoria Mutual Building Society, National Commercial Bank, CIBC First Caribbean, Jamaica National Building Society, the National Housing Trust, and Industrial Gas Limited.
