No clear timeline yet for new NHT director

There is still no clear timeline for the appointment of a new managing director of the scandal-hit National Housing Trust (NHT).

Martin Miller has been acting as managing director since the sacking of Cecile Watson in November last year over allegations of unauthorised multimillion-dollar spending.

Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller has portfolio responsibility for the NHT.

Yesterday, Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister, Onika Miller said the recruitment process is still underway with no clear timeline for an appointment.

A former NHT board member Dr Davidson Daway says the axing of Watson last year may have links with concerns she raised when the proposal to buy the Outameni property was brought to the board.

However, he said that may not have been the only reason.
