Nurses at the Mandeville Regional Hospital say they are waiting to see whether the authorities will deliver on their promise to boost security at the facility following the latest attack on a nurse by a patient.

Yesterday, the nurses staged a sit-in to raise awareness about the concern.

They were later called to meeting by the hospital management who promised to address their concern.

The Health Minister, Dr Fenton Ferguson, has condemned this and other recent attacks.

Ferguson said in the same way the public demands good customer service from health workers, personnel must be treated with respect.

The health minister also says Jamaicans must use the established mechanisms to resolve disputes.
