The government plans to introduce a programme that will seek to enlist the support of Jamaican entertainers to help promote destination Jamaica.

Junior Minister for Tourism Damion Crawford says the artiste ambassador programme will begin in two months with four artistes who will be selected after a careful review of their strength in the industry as well as on social media.

Crawford says the artistes will be asked to encourage their fans and their supporters to visit Jamaica and to use social media to inform persons of the attractions, accommodations and specials available in Jamaica.

He says local entertainers will be asked to apply to the ministry for inclusion in the programme.

Crawford was addressing the closing session of the 6th Tourism Outlook Seminar at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in Rose Hall, St James yesterday.
