Antoine Liddell, Noranda Jamaica Bauxite Partners' general manager, presented the Discovery Bay All-Age School with three retrofitted containers on Thursday, November 20. They are valued at $5 million and house a library, reading room, classrooms and a computer room, and form the main part of a $10-million block built through the fundraising efforts of community residents and the school population. The centre was officially opened by Pansy Johnson, executive chairman, Noranda Bauxite; June Clarke, principal, and Ramon Treasure, chairman of the school board.

Speakers, including Joy Daye, senior education officer, Region III, commended Noranda for its support of the project and thanked everyone involved for "their untiring efforts over the last four years to see their dream come true". Liddell further announced that the company will be donating two water tanks to the school and will be rolling out a combined student/employee mentorship programme next term.
