A Tivoli Gardens resident today testified that during the 2010 police-military operations in her west Kingston community she saw a policeman take her nephew around a corner and moments later she heard gunshots.
"Then I saw fire coming out of the gun," Roselyn Newton recounted in her testimony to the West Kingston Commission of Enquiry.
Newton said since that May 24, 2010 incident she never saw her nephew again until his funeral in July that same year.
She also related more alleged atrocities by members of the security forces, including an incident in which she and other members of her family were forced by soldiers to lay face down in mud.
Newton also recounted how a soldier held her by her neck and swept her feet from under her when she attempted to stop them from shooting her common-law husband and other family members.
