Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller is encouraging land owners to pay up their property taxes.

Simpson Miller says the government has been working hard to ensure that persons are able to own a home.

She says it’s now the responsibility of home and land owners to pay their property taxes for the betterment of their communities.

The Prime Minister was speaking at a ceremony to handover land titles in Havannah Heights Clarendon yesterday.

Forty persons from eight communities were officially handed their land titles at the ceremony.

Between January 2012 and December this year, 1,070 persons received land titles through the housing ministry and by the end of the titling process a total of 46,000 persons are expected to have receive their titles.
