Retirees (seated left to right) are: Raymond Higgin, Steve Nugent, Murna Wittaker, Theron Lumsden, Catherine Sharpe, Hayden Wright, Joan O'Connor and Gideon Clayton. The teachers have given between 12 and 38 years at the Bellefield High School in Manchester and were feted at a recent appreciation and recognition affair held at The Verandah in Clarendon Park, Clarendon.

Several persons attended the Manchester-based Bellefield High School appreciation and recognition banquet held in honour of 12 teachers who have retired, at The Verandah in Clarendon, recently.

The retirees have served between 12 and 38 years, giving a total of 359 years among them of unstinting service to the teaching profession. No doubt, they have helped to shape the future of many professionals today.

Chairperson of the appreciation committee, Bernice Sharpe-McNellie, thanked corporate sponsors such as First Global Bank, Mandeville branch for making the event a reality.

The GraceKennedy-owned First Global Bank (FGB), which was the main sponsor, Sharpe-McNellie said, was deserving of public recognition, having unselfishly given their financial support to the staging of the event.

"We thank our stakeholders and sponsors, including Courts; Singer; MegaMart; Jamaica National Building Society; TIP Friendly Society; Guardian Life; Three Angels Pharmacy; Howell's Medical Complex and Zamarcus Designz. I wish to recognise First Global Bank in a very special way for their contribution towards this function. I ask that they stand and be recognised," Sharpe-McNellie said.
