Traffic changes in MAY PEN

MAY PAEN, Clarendon:

THE CLARENDON Parish Council in collaboration with the National Works Agency (NWA) and the police will be implementing traffic changes in the May Pen town centre to ease the flow of traffic for the Yuletide season.

Wayne Mitchell, superintendent of NWA, Clarendon said effective Monday, no left turn is allowed onto Stork Street from Main Street from the direction of the police station.

Bromanty Street was also be converted into a one way street heading to Brooks Avenue from Stork Street.

He noted that motorists will not be permitted to enter Stork Street from Sevens Road.

On December 24, the roadway from Manchester Avenue leading to the clock will be closed from 1 p.m. to facilitate last minute Grand M.arket shopping. The street will be reopened to two-way traffic on Christmas day.

Superintendent in charge of operations at the May Pen police Carol McKenzie said police personnel will be on the streets to ensure the smooth flow of traffic.

The traffic changes will remain in effect until midnight January 1.

He also said additional police personnel will be in the Kellits and Frankfield town centres. "These areas are usually of great commercial activity on Christmas eve so the necessary human resources will be deployed to effectively see to the safety shoppers."
