New US ambassador sworn in

United States Ambassador to Jamaica Luis G. Moreno (centre) is sworn in at the US State Department yesterday.
Officiating the event were Rand Beers, undersecretary for Homeland Security; and Roberta Jacobson, assistant secretary of state for the Western Hemisphere - both long-time friends and colleagues of Ambassador Moreno.
Moreno was described as a career problem solver in the State Department and an excellent appointment for Jamaica.
 In his remarks, Moreno thanked Jamaican Ambassador to the United States Dr Stephen Vascianne for attending,and pledged to work closely with him on mutual issues.
Also in attendance were were his wife Gloria Moreno, their two daughters and his brother.
The Morenos will leave for Kingston just after Christmas.
