Widows Mite to benefit from St Ann Chamber of Commerce reception
OCHO RIOS, St Ann:
THE ST Ann Chamber of Commerce is once again trying to make Christmas special for the residents at Widow's Mite, a children's home operated by the Mustard Seed Communities.
As is customary, the chamber had its Christmas reception this year at Dolphin Cove in Ocho Rios, where members were asked to donate items that will go towards the home.
"This reception, we're just showing our appreciation to the membership that supported us throughout the year through various ways and, whatever contribution they bring here tonight will go towards Widow's Mite," said president of the chamber, Oral Heaven.
Despite the heavy showers, several members of the chamber turned out to mingle, taking along gifts for the less fortunate.
"There are members who are not here, but they will still provide contributions towards Widow's Mite," Heaven explained.
This year, the chamber provided a list of items that residents of the home need and members were asked to donate accordingly.
Heaven expressed appreciation to Stafford and Marilyn Burrowes, owners of Dolphin Cove, for hosting the reception this year.
"Most of what you see here, they have provided for the members of the chamber; it's really good and we appreciate it and thank them."
