New car for best Secrets worker
Last Saturday, senior managers at Secrets Resorts and Spas presented bartender Leonard Anderson with a red five-seater Suzuki Celerio, valued at $2.2 million and one year's insurance coverage, during the resort's fifth annual staff Christmas party, held at the Montego Bay cruise ship terminal.
This is the second car of its kind that the resort's managers are giving away to their best overall worker of the year. In December 2013, landscape supervisor Clifton Haddo was presented with his car.
General Manager Emilio Huhn, with the support of human resources director Andrea Allie-Thorpe had committed that the resort would give away a new car to an employee each year indefinitely. "We are seeing where employees have stepped up their competition among themselves, because they are so motivated by the level of rewards employees are receiving," Huhn said.
When Anderson's name was announced, he rushed on to the stage, held his driver's licence aloft, and smiling broadly, shook hands with Huhn and resident manager Deryk Meany, before thanking them.
The 23-year-old father of two, a married Christian, believes God was in the work. "My managers all motivated me to keep climbing the rungs. I admire the level of commitment that Secrets demonstrates towards their employees and their welfare," Anderson said.
