MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica:

A security guard was shot and injured outside the Sagicor Bank in Fairfield, Montego Bay, by three armed robbers shortly before midday today.

The robbers reportedly made off with a bag containing an unspecified amount of cash.

According to police reports, the guard was leaving the bank heading towards a Hawkeye Security vehicle with two bags containing money when he was pounced upon by the three robbers.

He was shot and injured during an exchange of gunfire as one of the robbers tried to take away the bags.

The robber snatched one of the bags then along with his cronies, fled into a waiting, white Toyota motor car.

It is believed that at least one of the robbers was shot as there was a trail of blood leading from the bank to where the get-away car was parked.

A large contingent of police personnel is on the scene conducting investigation.
