Portland road closed to facilitate flood damage repairs

Published:Wednesday | December 24, 2014 | 10:09 AM

The National Works Agency (NWA) says the Hope Bay to Chipshall roadway in Shrewsbury, Portland closed at 10 o’clock this morning and will be reopened at 1 p.m.

The agency says the closure is to facilitate emergency works to replace a culvert which was damaged during heavy rains and flooding last week.

The alternative route for motorists travelling towards St Margaret’s Bay is Mount Pleasant in Rock Hall, onto Mount Industry and then onto St Margaret’s Bay.

The National Works Agency is advising motorists and pedestrians to obey all posted warning and directional signs and the instructions of flag persons while work is in progress.
