The Jamaican website for the popular fast food chain KFC has been hacked.
However, Restaurants of Jamaica Limited, the company that operates the KFC chain locally, has given the assurance that the breach will have no impact on customers or store operations.
Marketing Director for Restaurants of Jamaica, Tina Matalon told The Gleaner this afternoon that the site was not used to conduct transactions, but was instead used to disseminate information about KFC’s offerings and store locations.
Up to this afternoon visitors to the website were greeted with the message: “Hacked by Syrian Shadow. This is for freedom of Syria.”
Matalon says the breach was first discovered shortly after midday.
Since then she says an investigation has been launched to determine if it originated in Jamaica or through KFC’s global website.
