Traffic changes downtown Kingston for Fireworks on the Waterfront
The police are advising motorists that there will be several traffic changes in downtown Kingston today to facilitate the New Year celebration, Fireworks on the Waterfront.
Sections of several roads including Ocean Boulevard, Princess Street, Orange Street, King Street and Church Street have been closed from 6 o'clock this morning and will reopen at 2 o'clock tomorrow morning.
The police say paid public parking will be available at the Harbour Street Car Park, Bank of Jamaica Car Park, Bank of Nova Scotia Car Park, West Street, Fisheries Car Park, the Transportation Centre and the Craft Market Car Park.
In the meantime, the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) says it will extended service tonight to facilitate persons going to watch the fireworks display.
The JUTC says its New Year’s Eve Night Hawk service will be offered between 11 o’clock tonight and 3 o’clock tomorrow morning.
The company says regular Fares are will be charged.
The Urban Development Corporation says this year’s Fireworks on the Waterfront event will feature a Kiddies Village, vending booths and stalls, a VIP Party, a family oriented entertainment package and the fireworks display at midnight.
