38 lives lost on the nation's roadways last month

Thirty-eight persons were killed on the nation’s roadways last month, making December the month with the highest number of road fatalities last year.



Data compiled by the Road Safety Unit in the Transport Ministry show that the 31 motor vehicle crashes recorded last month was the second highest for any one month period last year.



Thirty-three motor vehicle crashes were recorded last March.



A total of 327 persons were killed in 296 motor vehicle crashes last year.



According to the 2014 figures released by the Road Safety Unit, March had the second highest number of road fatalities with 37.



June was next with 30 road deaths followed by July and August which each recorded 28 road fatalities.



November saw the least road deaths with 14.



Motorcyclists accounted for 13 of the 38 road deaths recorded last month.
