The mobile social photo-editing and sharing application owned by Facebook remains on top; withstanding 4.5 out of 5 stars rating, 17.5 + million votes on Google Play, two million customer ratings on the iTunes Apple Store and close to 30 million likes on Facebook.
Whatsapp is probably causing mobile companies to rethink strategies to push text messaging services. One of the first applications that many smartphone buyers download and install is Whatsapp. The app only requires Internet connection; 3G/Edge or Wi-Fi and for the receiving party to have it installed. It is free for one year and only $0.99 to re-activate the account after the year.
3. 360 Security
Although 360 Security is not available for all mobile platforms, it has made the list of Top 14 Smartphone Apps of 2014 because it is one of the best, free mobile security applications developed. Android users have benefitted more from the features of 360 Security, including anti-theft, phone booster, junk cleaner and privacy protection.
4. SwiftKey Keyboard
This on-screen keyboard is more than just an application that allows users to personalise keyboards. It gives a new meaning to smartphone. SwiftKey Keyboard observes the way the user types and makes note of frequently used words, terms and expressions. The users styles are stored then the keyboard application can utilize predictive texting and make automatic corrections to texts. The app makes use of cloud computing technology, whereby users can connect the SwiftKey with Facebook and Google accounts so that it can learn from e-mails and social messages as well.
Internet radio applications are few, especially at a low to no cost. Pandora Media developed the app with the idea that the feature to suggest or source radio stations based on the users search was unique. It remains in the Tech Times Top 14 because of the comments, reviews and a total of approximately three million compiled votes of loyal users on all platforms.
6. TuneIn Radio Pro
Android, Apple iPhone, Blackberry and Windows phones users have access to the TuneIn Radio applications but TuneIn Radio Pro works best with Android and iOS devices once downloaded and installed through the Google Play and iTunes Apple app stores. TuneIn Radio has the option to record stations while both paid and free versions allow users to rewind and playback live streams. Current standing is 4.5 out of 5 stars.
The award-winning application, Evernote is available for computers and smartphones and is a must-have app for students, office administrators and directors of large companies. It functions as an organiser, note taker, cloud storage and has collaborated with other app developers to maintain a high level of service for users. It is an impressive cross-platform app for Android, iOS, Blackberry and Windows with over three million users. We cannot wait to see what updates and additional features the Evernote Corporation provides to users in 2015.
