KINGSTON, Jamaica:

The Campus Registrar of the University of the West Indies, Mona is advising students that their grades for the just concluded Semester One of the 2014/2015 academic year, will be released by January 16.

The decision, taken by the University, to delay the release of grades was done to allow the board of examiners to closely scrutinise all results following a change to a new Grade Point Average (GPA) system.

The move was announced in September 2013, and took effect September last year.

Under the new system, the pass mark has been increased from 40 to 50 per cent.

The decision to alter the GPA system is part of efforts to bring the university's grading scheme in line with international standards.
