Agriculture Minister Derrick Kellier is urging more companies to emulate local chicken producers Jamaica Broilers Limited and Caribbean Broilers Limited and pass on the savings from input cost to consumers.

Yesterday Jamaica Broilers reduced the price of its Grade A whole chicken by $3 per kilogram.

On Monday, the price of Caribbean Broiler’s Grade A chicken meat will decrease by $4.90 per kilogram.

Caribbean Broilers has also announced reduced prices for several other products.

Kellier commended the companies for their decision to roll back prices and urged them to continue doing so as grains and other commodity prices continue to fall on the international market.

The agriculture minister also appealed to other companies to follow the example set by Jamaica Broilers and Caribbean Broilers and called on Jamaicans to support local companies by eating what we grow.
