Managing director of Total Jamaica Limited, Dr Michael Faulkner, has been awarded the Chevalier of the l'ordre National du Merite of the Republic of France.

Faulkner was awarded for his work with the Embassy of France since his appointment as managing director of Total Jamaica in October 2012.

This includes the support of the Alliance Francaise in their various initiatives, the Club - France-Jamaique, the Touch of France, and other diverse cultural initiatives hosted together with the embassy.

The l'ordre National du Merite is an order of State of the Republic of France, awarded by the president of France. The award recognises distinguished men and women for their service and contribution and is one of the highest honours of the Republic of France.

In his acceptance speech, Faulkner reiterated Total Jamaica's commitment to protecting the environment, promoting green energy, maintaining quality, constant innovation and ensuring the safety of our children on the roads.

He added Total's gratitude for the open welcome by the Government and people of Jamaica and thanked them for their continued support.

According to Faulkner, he hopes Total's experience in Jamaica will spur economic interests and investor confidence thereby encouraging more investors from France.
