FLORENCE HALL, Trelawny:

American reggae band SOJA made their first ever visit to the homeland of reggae music, and their debut performance on the island in front of a relatively small audience at the Jamaica jazz and Blues Festival a short while ago.

The group made their way on stage shortly after 8:30pm and performed songs from their repertoire such as Tear it down, She still loves me, Rest of my life and Not done yet.

Lead singer, Joseph Hemphill, took time out to express gratitude to Jamaica for creating reggae music, a genre he told the told the audience he grew up listening.

"For the past 20 years of our lives we have been listening to this music… Thank you guys for making us a part of this beautiful picture," he said.
