West Prospect Bridge in St Catherine to be repaired

The National Works Agency says emergency repair work is to be carried out on the West Prospect Bridge, in St Catherine, commencing on February 9.

The NWA says the repairs are scheduled to be completed in one week.

The West Prospect Bridge is located along the West Prospect Parochial Road and was damaged during flood rains in November and December last year.

The NWA says the repairs will be undertaken in two phases.

The agency explains that phase one involves the reinstatement of the bridge, valued at $4 million, while phase two involves protective works.

The NWA says pedestrians will be prevented from using the pathway in the vicinity of the bridge during the repairs and are being asked to use the designated alternative routes.

The agency is also advising motorists to obey all posted warning and directional signs as well as the instructions of flag persons.
