This year's Jamaica Day celebrations in schools will take place on February 27.

The Ministry of Education says the theme for the day is: 'Celebrating Jamaica; Celebrating Regional Friendships from Boukman to Bolivar'.

The ministry says while the national observance will take place at Norman Manley High School, in St Andrew, other schools should seek to promote community spirit and volunteerism as part of Jamaica Day.

The ministry says children should also be encouraged to draw inspiration from persons who have led in the nation's progress.
