North East St Andrew MP Delroy Chuck has sought to explain why he missed last night's meeting of JLP parliamentarians.

General Secretary Dr Horace Chang says he was surprised that Chuck missed the meeting as he was integral in organising attempts to resolve the senate crisis.

However, Chuck told The Gleaner/Power 106 News Centre this morning that the meeting was not called to discuss what he had expected.

Our news centre was not able to reach Mair, who also missed the meeting.

Over the weekend, Chuck wrote to the Leader of Opposition Business in the House of Representatives, Derrick Smith calling for an urgent meeting of MPs in light of the court’s ruling on Andrew Holness' actions.

Chuck suggested that having been found to act unlawfully, Holness as Opposition Leader would be obliged to resign unless there are good and compelling reasons not to do so.

Holness recently appointed Chuck spokesman on Justice.
