'Fire, fire, fire' at top prep school
Trudy Hardy, principal of Lannaman's Preparatory School, has vowed that classes will continue despite a fire that damaged a section of the building yesterday. "When I came on the scene, it was just fire, fire, fire, all over, blazing fire," said Hardy.
"I understand Ö that the fire started from some mattress burning and I have no idea how that could have happened, but that's what I was told," added Hardy.
The fire destroyed the kindergarten section of the school, leaving almost 70 students without classrooms, but Hardy is determined that nothing will stop the learning process.
"Well, school Monday morning. Of course, we are resilient people, and so we will house the kindergarten department by the upper school.
"We were contacted by Jamaica Independent Schools Association (JISA), which is aware of the situation, and we are working with friends and the JISA family, also the school body and the parent-teacher association and we are reaching out to the alumni and corporate Jamaica," declared Hardy.
