Children's Advocate probes suspected suicide of a ward

KINGSTON, Jamaica, Feb. 22, CMC - The death of a teenage ward of the state has prompted the Office of the Children's Advocate (OCA) here to start an independent investigation into the incident.

On Friday, the 15-year-old male was found hanging in a bathroom at the Rio Cobre Juvenile Correction Centre in the central parish of St Catherine.

According to Children's Advocate Diahann Gordon-Harris, her office has made preliminary enquires about the teen's death.

It is believed he may have committed suicide.

The police are also conducting their investigations.
