Columbus Communications Jamaica Limited (CCJL) is vowing to continue to position itself as a powerful telecommunications provider in Jamaica, even as its planned merger with LIME takes shape.

"We will continue to outclass our competitors in customer service and product offerings," said Grant Hume, acting managing director at CCJL, which operates the business brand, Columbus Business Solutions, and residential brand - FLOW.

Jamaican regulators have given the green light for Columbus and Cable and Wireless to merge their operations in Jamaica following the announcement of the acquisition of Columbus International by Cable and Wireless Communications on November 6 last year.

The two companies are looking to offer greater services and a more-improved performance of its products.

According to Hume, "the significance of the merger for Jamaican and regional businesses, and consumers alike, will be that for the first time, they will be able to enjoy truly integrated services - mobile, land line, cable, Internet, and managed business solutions.

"This will be achieved by leveraging CWC's extensive cellular and fixed-connectivity footprint, along with Columbus' regional full-fibre network and deep information technology solutions capability."
