A woman employed to the National Commercial Bank died this morning during the staging of the Sagicor Sigma Corporate Run in Kingston.

She has been identified as 36-year-old Alicia Prince.

The circumstances surrounding the death are not clear.

However, in a statement a short while ago Sagicor,  the organisers of the run said Prince was treated by doctors in the vicinity of West Kings House Road.

She reportedly received immediate medical treatment from a medical team including a medical doctor, two Emergency Medical Technicians and a nurse in one of several medical vehicles deployed along the route and was taken to Andrews Memorial Hospital where she received additional treatment before passing away.

Organisers say a post mortem will also be performed on the body.

More than 24,000 participants participated in the 17th staging of the five kilometre run to raise funds for children services.

The Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited has extended condolences to Prince's family, co-workers and friends.

"Our deepest sympathies are with Ms. Prince's family," said Richard Byles, President and CEO of Sagicor Group Jamaica.
