Statistics have shown poverty more than doubled in Jamaica between 2007 and 2012.

This is according to the Survey of Living Conditions for 2012, which was tabled in the House of Representatives earlier today.

Finance Minister, Dr Peter Phillips says in 2007, the poverty rate stood at 9.9 per cent.

In 2010, that figure jumped to 17.6 per cent.

In 2012, Dr Phillips says the figure rose to over 19.9 per cent.
